COLOR PALETTE FALL/WINTER 2017/18

Colors are an essential part of the textile business.
    CLASSIC ACTIVE
The pivotal seasonal color palette of bestselling tones takes a brighter approach this season. Hues take on a more solid approach with a sharper and more intense appeal accentuated with increased neutrality from a range of gray tones complete with black and white.

    HAZY DAZE
A crisp and sharp palette inspired by nature comprised of subtle tones that can also take on a more luminary and crystallized role through brighter yarns and finishes. This delicate palette is also enhanced through the surface appeal from ultra matt and powdery handles through to milky touch for enhanced base-layer applications.

    JUMPIN'
An energetic offering of dense tones through to uplifting brights feature, there is a feel-good factor present. This color palette has a lot of mileage for the print sector as well as appealing to natural and synthetic offerings in altering the surface appeal. Black is a key component in enhancing the vibrant brights, this is about taking traditional tones to a new level.

    WIZARDRY
Mystical and ethereal in delivery, this palette can be worked down through to a rich, matte appeal or worked up through a metallic and lacquered approach for a feel of luxury and gleam. There is a heightened sense of reworking rich and neutral tones in creating something new and exciting for the season.

    MANGA MANIA
Pushing the boundaries of the color spectrum, the intense bright and synthetic tones of this palette can be taken even higher to a fluorescent level, screaming intensity and grabbing the spotlight. Geared towards the synthetic side of the textile sector, there is a renewed appeal and optimism as fantasy comes through.

PREMIERE CLASSE & WHO’S NEXT X MARTINE LEHERPEUR CONSEIL

Trend forecasters, MARTINE LEHERPEUR CONSEIL decoded the Autumn/Winter 2015-16 trends, which were then showcased in January 2015. Here’s a sneak peek at the key looks for this winter!

A/W 2015/16 TRENDS: THE REBEL ATTITUDE

Winter 2016 takes a drag from the uninspired and disruptive air of the 1990s / Takes inspiration from the … atmosphere of the 1990s. The rebel attitude presents a real challenge for femininity, exploring its limits and testing its endurance. The looks are a blend of fun and serious, relaxed sportswear and strict bourgeoisie, harsh lines with soft. A mixed up style that reexamines the traditional areas of seduction, exposing more at the back than the front. Winter 2016, watch your back!

    ICE BLUE : NEO-CATHOLICISM
The convent meets techno sport… the blues are lighter, duller or frozen. Virgin blue, icy softness, calm, the aftermath of spring. A chic look, the classic bourgeois style is twisted to give it a retro sporty feel. Worn with black, navy, white and bright colors, it will take on a divine character.
LEGGINGS & THE DRESSING GOWN: JUST OUT OF BED
Sleepwear is the look waking up the city… match with a blazer vest and sneakers to echo the “just out of bed” look of the 90s reminiscent of Seattle neo-grunge. The 90s legging is back in a cocoon style and offers a more fitted alternative to sweatpants / tracksuits. Wear with knits and shirts for a “hunter pajama” look.
THE GOLDEN TOUCH: THE DETAIL WITH AN IMPACT
A graphic golden touch boldly shapes and revamps accessories. Large gold plates, striking heels, XL buckles in bulk, shining handles and stand-out letters. Gold changes the neoclassic bourgeoise style by breaking strict visual rules.
    BE COOL: SPORTY PUNK
A twist on the 90s spirit, accessories rebel in a “cool“ way. Street and American music influence punk and grunge 2.0.
Platforms, neo-ranger boots, Doc Martens, knee high boots, gothic-punk jewelry, customized backpacks, caps and hats… All show a desire for eternal adoles- fence.
    WRESTLER: THE KITSCH FIGHTER
Kawaïi influenced by the mexican culture of lucha-libre creating a humorous take on manga as well as discouraging street-culture. A Nippon/Maya look featuring gaudy colours. While full facial masks, bright shining accessories, circus influences and flag references inspire flashy designs that flirt with kitsch. Freaky fluff, eccentric charms and shaggy fur in flashy, crazy colors, both childish and fun to beat the cold.

    CRAZY LINES: PARALLELS
A mechanical dynamic. Panicked lines shock and enchant, echoing graphic vibes. Charming, combining, bending, bouncing, hallucinating and taking on an entirely Beetle Juice’s style.
    TAPESTRY: URBAN CAMOUFLAGE
Using the Aubusson tapestries as a method of expression rather than decoration (floral and hunting themes). With a narrative anchor, the products express more depth and feeling. The urban look is redesigned, incorporating authenticity and history, by using tailoring commonly associated with denim. Sportswear gains a sense of emotional awareness. Maison Baluchon & Monsieur D have made it their focus.
    90’S DARK SPORTSWEAR : BLING & BRONX
90s black Swag style. a look somewhere between RnB & Rap: the princess of the Bronx meets tribal culture. An African touch uses Amish and 90s Hip Hop styles to create a nomad urban culture, incorporating a different take on the messages of Pop culture. Black bling for a darker hipster look.
A BARE BACK: THE ULTIMATE SEDUCTION
Winter seductive zones: the back is free and fearless of the first shivers of winter.
Mesh and stitching swops to the other side and filets open at the back to spark new interest.

Beauties

A period of intense creativity and experimentation, the 60s and 70s exert a lasting fascination on fashion for their bold modernity and aesthetic refinement. Taping the subtle way in which they fused glamour and casualness, updated with new flair and twists, these retro influences are now crystallizing, as they intersect with modern minimalism, into contemporary classics.

Instincts

Instincts taps the power of Nature and of intuition, a form of understanding and sensing that draws on instinctive feelings rather than conscious reasoning. Translated into fashion, it reinterprets natural winter codes into contemporary architectural styles. The rich “faux minimalist” feel is heightened by patched furs, neo-jacquards and textured materials.

Anticipations

In a constantly evolving environment, the imagination is free to dream up any number of future scenarios, from the most plausible to the most outlandish. This leads to a mutant, baroque and extremely hybrid mood. the composite silhouette combines cropped and super long proportions, oversized and fitted styles, stiff plastic-like materials and feminine fluidity.

Codes

Inspired by the strict rules of architecture, the simplicity of interior design and the functional features of uniforms and workwear, this no compromise design attitude taked minimalism and utilitarian styles to new bold heights. Masculine tailoring and protective sportswear, in roomy and relaxed 90s volumes, are given a modern aesthetic twist with graphic and linear grid motifs and modular multifunctional constructions.

    THE PROTECTIVE SHIELD OF MINIMALISM

A reaction to our desire to seek shelter from hostile natural elements, quiet, contemplative designs allow us to find serene calmness. Design becomes epic in its simplicity, purified from excess and humble in its minimalistic nature. Soft, pale pink and purple pastels are balanced by an earthy red and deep twilight blue. Touches of moody gray reflect the drainage of color which winter brings. Prints are composed of both fluid, wave-like lines and geometric structures, blurring and repeating to form camouflage effects. Our garments serve as armor to shield us from harsh winter conditions.

    UNIQUE ROOTS

With so much information at our fingertips today, creating one’s own focus and meaning is essential. To stand out from the mass, one must lay down roots and embrace organic beauty. The fresh colors of lemon yellow and pine green are deepened by the more faded shades of earth brown, sienna, and burgundy. Denim blue and stone gray also find their place in handcrafted, purposeful design. Prints have a nostalgic, unfinished feel, with lots of patchwork effects, imperfect florals, and vintage imagery. Woven fabrics are also used as a basis for print inspiration. Mixing the old with the new is key to creating one’s own focus and meaning.

    DIGITAL SURREALISM

Technology allows us to play in surreal dreamworlds which investigate the edges between normality and abnormality in life. Computer generated imagery creates illusions and delusions which are completely man-made. It allows us to further explore absurdity in art. Colors pack a refined punch and extreme hues such as tomato red, coral, Moroccan blue, and sour green create unexpected and unusual combinations. Black and white are added to create balance. Prints are geometric and futuristic, and completely digital, with almost no resemblance to anything natural. Heavy and obvious retouching is popular, as is surrealistic photo art. Exaggeration is key to inventing this super-realistic story.

"Dimensions" SPINEXPO A/W 2016/17

Fashion has been living through a time of hype, branding and celebrity endorsement for many years now, resulting in a disposable attitude to design with very little substance or skill behind it, and ultimately bland products.

At SPINEXPO we feel this era is on a downward cycle and with time will become outmoded. There is a growing desire for innovation and invention, looking for individuals who have created breakthrough design concepts and clever new techniques.

This new direction requires a much deeper understanding and skillset as a designer, who needs to have the ability to be more creative and unexpected with their use of colour, yarns, textures and forms creating new dimensions to designs both intellectually and physically.

The move away from glib superficial fashion elements pushes us to look deeper into ideology and creative developments that ultimately have more longevity and take on their own strong personal identity. There is a general direction towards growth and 3 dimensional form, with surfaces and structures being the key elements to consider. New advancements in technical processes from 3d printing to innovative manufacturing methods and enhanced finishes are allowing the body form be more considered and garments become sculptural and have a dimension of their own even without a form inside.

Colours also become dimensional as they react to their fabrication or structure. Therefore A/W 2016/17 colours for SPINEXPO are not seen as flat individual colours with only one level, but in fact our colours are a series of tones as they change and reflect different textures, be it fibre, yarn or structure of the fabric. This added dimension has meant colours have become richer and darker, more sophisticated with a strong emphasis on neutrality. This concept of dimensions looks at the hybrid of fashion and active as well as textures and textiles, from stretch, papers and metals, to lace, leather and plastics, rejecting nothing. Manifesting itself in different contrasts from fabrics that are strong and hold their form to ones that flow and move, whether they are knitted, woven, molded or bonded is irrelevant as they are used together to create a brand new aesthetic that provokes new thinking and adds personality.

SPINEXPO proposes "Dimensions" to design and move forward into AW 2016/17 with, giving greater dimension to the way we think, live and create, adding new dimensions within the product itself.

    SELF ESSENCE

Neutral colors form the basis for the balanced, calm play of materials.  Skin and apricot tones cover the fabrics with tender gradations.  Restrained metallic gloss looks elegant in satins or graphic jacquards.  Delaves radiate naturalness.  Peach skin finishes create exciting surfaces for both hand and eye.  Elegance and sportiness play with checks, herringbone and technical jerseys.

    ORIENTAL LABORATORY

Natural white, beige and sand tones exude a colorful calmness.  The warmth of the orient is felt in orange, yellow and bronze colors.  An elegant depth is added to this spectrum in the form of black and petrol.  Voluminous, grainy and yet floating texture constructions appear as modern unis in cotton/polyamide mixtures.  Lots of creativity appears with structured surfaces.  Heat-embossed polyester-mixtures and bondings make incredible 3D patterns magically appear.   Jacquard and lace gleaming a discreet luxury.

    DREAM PATCHING

Very soft watercolor tones play with bold retro colors.  Icy blue, rose and lavender nuances meet nautical blue pine green and ruby red.  Romantic patterning creates a dreamy basis with tile motifs, houndstooth and naive jacquards.  Characteristic Chanel surfaces and printed laser cuts create lively structures.  Abstracted rings and sun chair stripes show creativity in marine motifs.  Nets bring a flowing lightness and transparency to the materials.

    PSYCHOTECH JUNGLE

The focus of Psychotech Jungel is on defamiliarized prints.  Pixels, vegetation, graphic patterns, landscapes: everything gets psychedelically abstracted, distorted, enlarged or blurred.  Intense, sporty colors like orange, red and turquoise meet exotic green and purple.  This palette finds some relaxation with white, graphite, silver and natural wood tones.  Hybrid fabrics are bonded or composed of differing samples.  Technical materials, vinyl and silk make shiny, moving surfaces.  Perforations, sometimes printed, find applications in sporty jerseys, synthetic leather and glued materials.

    DENIM EXTREMES

An extremely simple color palette of blue tones get completed with important summer casual colors like beige, white and greying pastels.  The material range is even more wide and extreme than in previous seasons.  Super clean materials are just as present as totally bleached-out washes or extremely over dyed indigos.  Wheather flowing or solid, structured or super smooth, extremely stretchy or raw and sturdy, jacquards or 3/1 - everything a denim lover could dream of is here.
